There are many interesting towns with impressive archaeological remains on this Cusco south valley tour. First we will come across Tipon, with its extensive terraces and fine irrigation systems that end in altars dedicated to water.

Next we’ll pass by the towns of Huaro and Andahuaylillas. These are home to colonial churches with exquisitely carved pulpits and baroque art. of these, the most important is Andahuaylillas; its church is known as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” for its outstanding artwork and murals.

Another noteworthy stop is Huacarpay Lagoon, full of plant and animal species. There are many bird observation towers constructed along the edge to improve the view. After this brief tour of the lake, we will stop by the archaeological site of Pikillaqta, former home of the Wari culture and one of the three most important pre-Inca cities. The site impresses with its sheer size and meticulous layout.
