Embark on the first day of our 4-day Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu, where adventure and ancient history await. We will begin our journey at 6:00 am with a convenient pickup from your hotel. As we set out, we’ll pass through the picturesque towns of Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo, all integral parts of the Sacred Valley.

Our adventure kicks off at the high pass of Abra Málaga, perched at 4,316 meters (14,160 feet), offering a spectacular view of the snow-capped Huacay Willca mountain. Here, we’ll equip ourselves with bicycles and receive a thorough safety briefing.

Then, we’ll begin our exhilarating bike descent. We will traverse different ecological zones such as the Puna (Highland) and Cloud Forest, each boasting a diverse range of flora and fauna. After 3 hours of biking downhill, covering a distance of 50 km (80 miles), our bike journey concludes at the archaeological remains of Huaman Marq’a, sitting at an elevation of 1,600 meters (5,248 feet).

From Huaman Marq’a, we’ll take a short 25-minute van ride to the town of Santa Maria, located at 1,200 meters (3,937 feet). Afterward, a brief 25-minute walk will lead us to Pispitayoc village, situated at an elevation of 1,370 meters (4,493 feet). Here, nestled amidst mountains and forest, we’ll spend the night in an eco house, enjoying a local dinner and immersing ourselves in the serene environment.

On the second day of our 4-day Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu, we will immerse ourselves in the heart of the Inca jungle, rich in history and natural beauty. After enjoying a delicious breakfast, our guide will offer an insightful speech about the local area. We will then learn how to roast and make our own coffee, a unique cultural experience.

Our hiking adventure begins on a portion of the ancient Inca Trail network known as the Qhapaq Ñan. As we walk, we’ll have the opportunity to observe a variety of birds, including parrots, hummingbirds, and eagles. We’ll also see plantations of coca (the Sacred Leaf of the Incas), coffee, yucca, and fruit trees like orange, mango, and banana.

We will hike until we reach the Huancarcasa viewpoint at 1,750 meters (5,750 feet). Here, we will take a relaxing break, enjoying the panoramic view of the entire valley. After this break, the trail descends to the small village of Qellomayo, located at 1,200 meters (3,936 feet). We will have lunch in this quaint village before beginning the last part of the day’s trek, which will take approximately 2 more hours.

Our day’s journey concludes at the thermal baths of Cocalmayo, situated at 1,450 meters (4,756 feet), where you have the option to soak and relax (optional). Afterwards, we will reach the town of Santa Teresa, at an elevation of 1,515 meters (4,969 feet), where we will spend the night. Dinner and breakfast the following day will be provided.

On the third day of our exhilarating 4-day Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu, we will continue tracing the path of the ancient Incas. The day begins with an energetic breakfast in Santa Teresa, at an elevation of 1,515 meters (4,969 feet). Fueled and ready, we will set off on the first segment of our day’s trek.

For the initial 3 hours, we will walk through scenic landscapes, passing by lush coffee and coca plantations. This walk leads us to Hidroeléctrica, sitting at 1,900 meters (6,270 feet). Here, we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch and take a break, absorbing the serene surroundings.

Post-lunch, we will embark on a 3-hour trek along the train tracks. This picturesque route is not just a journey; it’s an experience filled with natural beauty and a sense of anticipation for the upcoming visit to Machu Picchu. Our destination for the day is Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Town, at an elevation of 1,950 meters (6,396 feet).

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will have the afternoon free to explore or relax at our own pace. As evening descends, we will gather for dinner. This is also the perfect time to plan and discuss the final ascent to the majestic Machu Picchu, which awaits us the next day.

The fourth and final day of our Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu is the most anticipated, as it leads us to the pinnacle of our journey – the majestic Machu Picchu. We will commence our day early at 4:00 am, embarking on a trek towards Machu Picchu, located at an elevation of 2,400 meters (7,872 feet). This hike, lasting approximately one and a half hours, offers serene early morning views and a sense of tranquility before reaching the bustling entrance of the Inca citadel.

Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, we will register and present our tickets, marking the official start of our exploration. Our guide will lead a 2-hour tour, showcasing the most significant parts of the Machu Picchu citadel. This guided tour is an immersive experience, allowing us to delve into the rich history and marvel at the architectural ingenuity of the Incas.

After the guided visit, we will have free time to explore the citadel at our own pace. This is the perfect opportunity to soak in the stunning views, capture memorable photos, or simply reflect on the incredible journey we’ve embarked upon.

Eventually, we will return to Aguas Calientes, at an elevation of 1,950 meters (6,396 feet), also known as Machu Picchu Town. Here, we will collect our belongings and proceed to the train station. A train ride will take us to Ollantaytambo, where a bus awaits to return us to Cusco, marking the end of our remarkable adventure.
